I dont want to hurt anyone...help...??

alright well i like this guy a lot...like i cant get him out of my head. i met him when he was having a party...&& we started talking and he told me how his girlfriend just broke up with him...and he really cared about her but was sick of breaking up. i told him not to get over her yet, because all girls call and want to get back together. that night we got into some really good conversations...and i really thought there was something there. His girlfriend called the next day wanting to get back together and make things work....but he said he didnt want to. she was crushed and now she goes around telling people im a stupid skank/, but i didnt do anything! she cries about him all the time...and he wants to get together with me but i dont know if he is over her or not...i dont know....help?
